Fresh international recognition comes as Thailand’s capital reassures visitors that major attractions and transport services are operating as usual
Fresh from being named the World’s Best City in the Condé Nast Traveller 2026 UK Readers’ Choice Awards, Bangkok is welcoming international visitors following September’s heavy rains and localised flooding, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reassuring Middle East travellers that the city’s major attractions and transport services remain operational.
Bangkok topped the prestigious readers’ poll with a score of 97.68, rising from outside the top 20 in 2025. The award, based on votes from 296,356 UK readers, recognises the Thai capital’s distinctive combination of cultural heritage, exceptional dining and vibrant urban life.
The accolade offers a timely boost to Thailand’s tourism sector following concerns about travel disruption caused by September’s rainfall.
According to TAT’s latest published advisory, conditions in Bangkok and surrounding areas have improved, with key tourism districts including Siam, Ratchaprasong and Chinatown remaining accessible. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun are also welcoming visitors.
Both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang international airports have remained operational, while the BTS Skytrain, MRT, Airport Rail Link and Red Line continue to provide connections across the capital.
For Middle East holidaymakers, Bangkok remains a compelling destination, whether as a city break or the starting point for a longer Thai holiday. Beyond the capital, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are among the destinations continuing to welcome visitors.
From Michelin-starred restaurants and bustling street markets to historic temples and luxury riverside hotels, the experiences that earned Bangkok its latest international distinction remain available to travellers.
While visitors are encouraged to check local weather and transport updates during the rainy season, TAT’s message is clear: Bangkok remains open for tourism.
For travellers planning their next escape, the Land of Smiles offers a reassuring invitation to rediscover Amazing Thailand, starting with the world’s best city.
