Respology has developed the Respology Index, powered by its proprietary RESP Model™, as a framework for measuring and managing reputation in an era of high-speed information flow and artificial intelligence. The model is already being applied in Respology’s client work, including international brands such as BMW, helping organisations identify reputational risks, understand changing public perception and define actions to strengthen and protect reputation.
The Respology Index brings together practical experience from Respology’s reputation management work into a structured methodology for assessing the reputational health of companies, brands and business leaders. Unlike traditional metrics that primarily track mentions and overall sentiment, the Respology Index treats reputation as a manageable system. The RESP Model answers four critical questions:
- R (Reputation Surface) — What is visible about the organisation across search, media, social platforms, reviews, professional networks and generative AI responses;
- E (Exposure Risk) — Where vulnerabilities exist and how likely a future crisis is;
- S (Sentiment Dynamics) — How perception is changing, at what speed and under which influences;
- P (Protection Strategy) — What concrete actions are required to protect and strengthen reputation.
These four components generate a RESP Score (0–100). The model also incorporates stress-testing scenarios that evaluate reputational resilience against media crises, leadership risks, data breaches, coordinated attacks and the amplification of negative narratives through AI systems.
“Most existing indices show how a company is perceived today. We have built a tool that reveals where reputation can break tomorrow — and how to defend it in advance. The Respology Index moves the conversation about reputation from subjective assessment to a structured system of measurement, diagnosis and management,” said the founder of Respology.
Generative AI increasingly shapes first impressions of brands. AI answers actively synthesise corporate image, making conventional reputation measurement insufficient.
The Respology Index is designed for boards of directors, communications leaders, risk managers and investors. It delivers a map of reputational health with priorities for action.
Respology plans to release industry benchmarks and build a reference database.
