Safespill’s ILDFA Recognized in New U.S. Military UFC Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Criteria

Safespill is proud to announce that Ignitable Liquid Drainage Floor Assemblies (ILDFA) are now formally recognized in the newly issued Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC 4-211-01), Aircraft Maintenance Hangars, dated September 30, 2026.

The updated criteria provide a unified design framework for hangars serving the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army, and Marine Corps.

Unlike traditional firefighting foam systems, ILDFA rapidly removes spilled fuel from the hangar floor, preventing the formation of large fuel pools and eliminating the potential for large pool fires.

Tristan Mackintosh, founder and CEO of Safespill, said:

“We have been protecting military aircraft hangars for years, but seeing ILDFA formally recognized in these criteria is an incredibly proud moment for our entire team. It’s about protecting the men and women working in these facilities, the aircraft they maintain, and supporting readiness without the environmental consequences of firefighting foam.”

This milestone represents an important step toward Safespill’s mission of transitioning the world to environmentally safe fire protection.
